Import videos
Use Import on the Videos toolbar to copy existing files into the current workspace. You can also open /videos?import=1. The button stays disabled unless your effective permissions include workspace.manage.
Import creates a new AtomicPlayer video. The original stays on the source host, and existing embeds keep pointing there until you replace them with an AtomicPlayer embed.
Providers
The modal starts at Choose a provider:
| Provider | What you connect | What is copied |
|---|---|---|
| Panda Video | API token from Panda Settings → Advanced → API Key. How to get the key. | Video file, captions, thumbnail, folder, title, description, and compatible player settings. |
| Wistia | Account token with Read all folder and media data. Account owners create it under Account Settings → API. Making API requests. | Original file or an MP4 rendition, thumbnail, folder, and captions. |
| Vimeo | Authenticated personal access token with the public, private, and video_files scopes. Generate a token. | Account videos that expose a downloadable file, the picture, and WebVTT tracks that can be downloaded. |
| Direct MP4 URL | One public HTTPS URL. No account connection. | That single MP4, plus an optional thumbnail URL. |
AtomicPlayer stores a connected token for the workspace and does not show it again. Use Replace token or Disconnect when you need to change it. A saved connection skips the token step and opens the catalog.
Vimeo file access also requires an eligible paid plan (Standard or higher) and downloads enabled for that video. Videos the token cannot download stay in the catalog as Not ready and cannot be selected.
What Panda player settings transfer
Panda imports apply settings that AtomicPlayer can represent safely:
- Primary, controls, and progress colors
- Which controls are visible, including play, progress, volume, captions, settings, picture-in-picture, fullscreen, rewind, forward, and playback speed
- Resume play when Panda save-progress is on
- Caption text color, background, font size, and default language
- Meta Pixel, Google Analytics 4, and Google Tag Manager IDs when they match the expected format
- Allowed domains, which turn on domain lock
These Panda options are left behind: smart autoplay, fake progress, DRM, anti-download, branding, pause and end thumbnails, and dubbing. Recreate the ones AtomicPlayer offers in Player Studio after the video is ready.
Wistia and Vimeo imports copy media and captions. They do not copy that host's player theme. Direct MP4 imports have no caption source.
Run an import
- Open Videos and select Import.
- Choose a provider.
- For Panda, Wistia, or Vimeo, paste the token and select Connect.
- Select Refresh videos if the catalog looks stale. Search, select videos, and select Continue. Items marked Already imported or Not ready cannot be selected.
- Review the confirmation. One job can include up to 100 videos.
- Select Start import. The toolbar shows Import {n}% while the job is queued or running.
- When the job finishes, review the result. Select Retry failed for items that did not copy. Cancel import is available while a job is still running.
A workspace can have one active import. Choosing another provider while a job is running returns to that job instead of starting a second one.
Direct MP4 URL asks for the file URL, a Video title, and an optional thumbnail URL. The server accepts only a public HTTPS URL whose path ends in .mp4.
While the job runs
Closing the modal does not stop the job. Reopen Import to see progress. Each video moves through preparing the source, uploading, processing, copying captions and the thumbnail, applying Panda player settings when they apply, and verifying playback.
Source folders are copied as a single folder name. Long paths are shortened so they fit the library folder limit.
After the copy finishes
New videos still need processing time before they can be opened. The library shows Processing until playback is ready. View history and analytics from the source platform are not imported.
Then organize the library, customize the player, and replace embeds on your pages.
Platforms that are not offered
Account import is available for Panda Video, Wistia, and Vimeo only. YouTube, VTurb, VSL Play, and Vidalytics do not appear in the provider list. A public HTTPS .mp4 from any host can still use Direct MP4 URL when you have a direct file link. A watch page, embed URL, or HLS playlist is not accepted.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Import disabled?
The control requires the workspace.manage permission and an active workspace.
Can I paste a YouTube link?
No. Direct import accepts a public HTTPS URL whose path ends in .mp4. YouTube, VTurb, VSL Play, and Vidalytics are not account providers.
What happens if I close the window?
The job continues. Progress is saved, and the Videos toolbar shows Import plus the current percent.
Will this delete the videos on Panda, Wistia, or Vimeo?
No. Import copies the file into AtomicPlayer. The source video and its existing embeds stay where they are.
Why is a Vimeo video marked Not ready?
The token cannot download that file. Use an authenticated token with public, private, and video_files, on a Vimeo plan that allows file access, and confirm downloads are enabled for the video.
