Captions and subtitles
Caption display settings and caption generation are separate workflows.
Display settings
In Player Studio or a video's Customize tab, Subtitles & audio controls whether available tracks show, the default language, auto-show behavior, font size, text color, background color, and opacity. These settings do not invent or translate media tracks.
At runtime, caption tracks are loaded as VTT. The CC menu appears when tracks exist, even if Enable subtitles is off, unless the Studio captions control is hidden. Viewers can choose a track or turn captions off.
Generate tracks
Open Settings → Captions, dubbing & transcript to generate source/translated captions, dubs, or both. See Captions, dubs, and transcription.
Frequently asked questions
Does enabling captions transcribe my video?
No. It controls tracks that already exist. Generate tracks from the video's Settings tab.
Why is there no CC button?
The video needs at least one caption track, and the Studio captions control must not be hidden. Tracks still show the control when Enable subtitles is off.
