Magic Autoplay
In the app UI this feature is labeled Smart Autoplay (this article keeps the Magic Autoplay product name used in marketing). It shows a designed template or custom-image invitation over muted playback. Restarting from the beginning after unmute is optional.
Where to configure it
- Open Videos and click your video.
- Open the Customize tab → Smart Autoplay.
- Add or edit one or more variants.
- Select Save, then Publish to this video. Existing embeds use the stable player ID and do not need to be recopied.
Variants and layouts
Each variant supports:
- A name and a Template or Customized layout.
- A template choice or custom image.
- Headline, subheadline, button text, text/background colors, and optional prompt pulse.
- Start and end timing.
Use + Add to create a variant. Variants can be edited, duplicated, or removed. Up to six variants are accepted by the current configuration.
With two or more variants, the runtime assigns a stable variant to each viewer. The editor currently displays “the winner is promoted at 95% confidence,” but that sentence is presentational: the current dashboard and runtime do not calculate confidence or promote a Smart Autoplay winner. Use Serving only to choose the variant shown in preview.
Turning it off
Disable Smart Autoplay, then Save and Publish to this video.
Interaction and restart behavior
Detect interaction lets pointer interaction dismiss the prompt. Restart on unmute seeks to 0:00 the first time playback becomes audible; when it is off, engagement continues from the current position.
Browsers still govern autoplay and audio. Test the published player on desktop and mobile.

Frequently asked questions
Is Magic Autoplay the same as Mini Hook?
No. Smart Autoplay covers the first engagement beat. Mini Hooks are later timed overlays—see Mini Hook.
Do I violate autoplay policies?
Browsers still govern audio. Keep muted autoplay when testing, and treat the overlay as a visual nudge—not a bypass of platform rules.
