Session replays & heatmaps

The Replays report is a list of anonymized static session summaries. It does not replay or reconstruct a viewer session.

Where to find it

Open the Analytics workspace and select Replays.

The session list

Each row can show the viewer name or Anonymous, country, video, duration, event count, attention score, age, and an outcome such as Converted, CTA click, Reached pitch, Bounced, or Watched. Use the available outcome filters to narrow the returned rows.

The static session detail

Selecting a row opens:

  • A static player-style summary with the viewer, video, and duration.
  • A timestamped list of the events returned for that session.

Read only the events actually displayed in the list. The player chrome, progress bar, speed labels, and in-card Export button are presentational. Playback, scrubbing, speed changes, inferred reconstruction, and per-session export are not available. Use the workspace toolbar's Export CSV for available filtered rows.

Heatmaps are separate

The aggregate Engagement heatmap is in the Retention report, not the static session detail. It summarizes interaction across sessions. Replays does not turn that aggregate pattern into playable individual-session behavior.

Best practices

  • Filter for the outcomes relevant to your question.
  • Base conclusions on the timestamped events that are actually listed.
  • Use Retention for aggregate heatmaps and Replays for static per-session rows.

Frequently asked questions

Can I watch a session replay?

No. The current Replays report provides a static session summary and timestamped event list. Its player-style controls are not functional.

Does Replays reconstruct behavior that is not listed?

No. Use only the events displayed for the selected session; the report does not infer or play back additional behavior.

How is the heatmap different?

The Retention heatmap aggregates interaction across sessions. Replays shows static details and listed events for one session at a time.
